Bookend Cottage

I was commissioned to create the graphics and visual theming for a unique school bus project at Carr Junior School in York. The brief was to transform a decommissioned double-decker bus into an imaginative, Hobbit-house-inspired space for pupils. I developed the graphics for the entire exterior of the bus, as well as the internal graphics across both floors, including the cupboards, stairwell and ceilings. One of the key features was the main entrance, which I designed to look like the doorway to a Hobbit house, creating the feeling that pupils were stepping straight into another world. The finished bus was transformed into a library downstairs and a reading room/classroom upstairs, creating a fun and engaging space for learning and reading.

The project was led, fitted out and themed by Unconventional Design, with David Johnson as Project Manager, signage installation by M4 Signs, and graphic design by Robert Harrison Graphic Design.
